<br/>
Back in may and june working at Blind Renaissance was a blast. I was working on three websites at once (Saint Laurent, Keyes Packaging and American Cameo). Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to totally complete them because of my new job at Giant Creative. I've been there for a couple months now and love it. I really have gotten to stretch my wings lately working with Goodbarry and the new Squarespace (version 5). I've been gaining a lot of knowledge coding xhtml and css and they never seem to get old to me. I have discovered a lot of new page optimizing and seo tricks that I am very excited about. I've also been digging further into javascript (mainly Jquery). And yes this website is almost always the guinea pig so if you see anything funky on here, sorry in advance I'm probably playing around with something.
<br/>
<br/>
Lately in my spare time I've managed to created a website for an Investment company on Wall street, New York. Exciting! And have done a bit of print work for the University of Washington.

<br/>
<br/>
More to come soon. . . I promise!

Picked up a copy of "Art of Modern Rock" a bit ago. All I have to say is AWESOME! A huge book packed full of Band posters from the past 15 years.

Excellent book. Read it if you are interested in learning about creating websites the proper way using xhtml and css and how to make them as simple and flexable as possible. Dan’s writing is a bit funny at parts making an otherwise dry subject more appealing to. You should definitely check it out if you are interested in this sort of stuff.

Here it is folks!</strong> &mdash; Picked this baby up in Bellingham a week ago. It is the shizzle! Runs like a charm and is very clean for its age. I bought it off of a good friend of mine I've known since the 2nd grade. A lot of good memories in that thing.. .

<p><strong>
One year ago. . . </strong> &mdash; I was up late. . . I’m sure. Getting ready for graduation. I had high hopes of getting into certain companies in Seattle and being the next rockstar of design. I had certain ideas about the design community that probably came from my ignorance and lack of professional experience.</p><br/>
<br/>
<strong>Where am I now?</strong> <br/>

Well I’m up late again, not a surprise. Tinkering with design also not a surprise. But I’m not in the Seattle area. I remember my mom would always be trying to get me to look for jobs in Wenatchee.. . Yeah right I thought, there is no way that there are any decent design firms in Wenatchee. As time went by looking for jobs and getting my college work up on the web with my first website created on Dreamweaver all in tables and no css. Not even any text! I used all images. What a piece of crap! Well anyways, I had my site up, thought it was the sh*# and was determined to find THE JOB. Like that a design firm in Wenatchee contacted me. What the. . . there actually are design firms in Wenatchee. Fast forwarding a bit, I lost my job because I didn’t have web experience and the company wanted to go more in a web direction. So, out of a job again. What did I do? What I knew best, back to school. Well not literally, I took a couple months and long hours and taught myself as much flash and web as I could cram into my brain. . . And now here I am. I know a decent amount about xhtml, css and flash with fairly complex actionscripting. I’m doing freelance at the moment and really enjoy it. <br/>
<br/>
<strong>Regret moving to Wenatchee?</strong> Hell no! I love Wenatchee. I am close to the mountains, the weather is nice, hot in the summer and cold and snowy in the winter. And did I mention I don’t get rained on ¾ of the year here. It is hard to find a design job however but freelance is a nice option at the moment. So I’ll wait till the right one comes along. <br/>
<br/>
It’s been a very good year and I’ve come a long ways in one year.<br/>
<br/>
Here’s a link to <a href="http://www.ac.wwu.edu/~design/">"Western’s Design grads websites. Check it out."</a><br/>
<br/>
<em>Cheers to a new year!</em>

<strong>
Seems like people are always looking to go a long ways away for a vacation. </strong> &mdash; Washington State is loaded with all types of vacation worthy nooks and crannies. We took a trip to Dry Falls this weekend and it turned out to be a great trip for taking pictures but not that great for camping. WINDY! Bad luck I guess. It was cool though, I had a great time and would highly recommend driving through Dry Falls if you are ever in the area I think you would enjoy it. If you haven't seen my <a href="http://www.creativepayne.com/photos/"> photography </a> yet check it out.
